Wedding Industry Statistics

The wedding industry is huge. Weddings are a 165-billion-dollar industry, with over 2.4 million weddings taking place each year in the United States1. The average wedding budget is just under $30,000 and this figure is predicted to rise substantially in the next five years2. For help managing their time, resources, and budget, busy couples are increasingly turning to wedding planners to ensure their special day goes off without a hitch.

According to a recent survey in Modern Bride Magazine, over fifty percent of couples used the services of a wedding planner and this figure is expected to rise in the coming years. The U.S. Department of Labor forecasts a 20% increase in employment opportunities for wedding planners over the next five to eight years. This means that there are and will continue to be abundant job prospects for professionally trained planners.

As a wedding planner, you can expect to earn between $1,500 and $4,500 per wedding, or an average of 10-15% of the wedding budget3. If you work on 30 weddings per year at an average rate of $2000 per wedding, your annual earnings would exceed $60,000.
